On Thursday 23rd May, Miss Clare’s Year 4 children presented their assembly to parents and carers. Their topic was The Romans and they provided a detailed account of key events in Roman Britain.
They told us lots of facts, sang two songs and finished off with a Roman Rap!

On Friday 17th May, some of our children were given a special job to do – help unpack our new library books with Mrs Johns and Mrs Newall. Our school successfully applied to the National Literacy Trust to be part of their ‘Libraries for Primaries’ programme.
As part of this programme, we received 500 new books. The children loved looking through the new books and they all worked really hard unpacking and sorting the books ready to be put on the shelves. We hope our new books will be well-loved by all the children and encourage them to become life-long readers.

As a reward for their recent success at Co-op Academy Swinton’s Dragon’s Den Competition, a group of 11 Year 5 children were treated to a stadium tour and learning experience at M.U.F.C. alongside children from other Swinton primary schools.
On Friday 10th May, Miss Dixon’s Year 4 children presented their assembly about The Romans to their parents and carers. All the children contributed, learning their lines and songs really well.

On Thursday 2nd May our Year 3 children visited Quarry Bank Mill to learn more about life in Victorian Times. They took part in activities in the mill, the apprentice house and the schoolroom. Here are photographs from the trip –
