On Wednesday 7th May, our Year 4 children visited The Catalyst Science Discovery Centre, where they took part in interactive science experiments and visited the exhibitions.

On Thursday, Miss Lyons’ children performed their excellent assembly to their families. All the children spoke their lines really clearly and performed their song and dance with enthusiasm! Well done to all the children – you worked really hard on this.
Thank you once again to all the parents and carers who were able to support our children in their assembly and join us in the classroom afterwards.
On Friday 2nd May, we celebrated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day in school. Throughout the day, we learned about the significance of 8th May 1945 and how families were affected by World War II. Our children created written work and artwork to commemorate this special occasion – this will form a large display in our main building.
During the afternoon, every child in school also joined in ‘street parties’ and picnics outside in the sunshine; such a memorable day for all:
On Wednesday 23rd April, Year 2 visited RHS Bridgewater to learn about the parts of a flowering plant and complete workshops to plant seeds and identify trees out in the gardens. This trip was provided free of charge by RHS Bridgewater Schools Team, including a travel bursary – an amazing opportunity for our 75 Year 2 children.
On Thursday 3rd April, Mrs Dixon’s children presented an excellent assembly about Brazil. They told us about life in Brazil, the main cities and tourist locations and really showed us their enthusiasm with their singing and samba dancing!
Well done to all the children and thank you to their family members, who were able to come along to watch and visit the classroom afterwards.
On Friday 28th March, Year 3 visited Quarry Bank Mill, where they learned more about what life was like for Victorian children.
On Thursday 27th February, our two Year 5 Teams took part in the Co-op Academy Swinton Dragon’s Den Final alongside several other Swinton primary schools. Our presenting teams, together with the groups of supporters who came with us, had lots of fun watching all the teams and taking part in ‘dance offs’ and poster competitions throughout the morning with Fred The Red!
Although our teams did not win the overall prize, we are very proud of all the hard work they put into their presentations and the way they represented our school – they also received excellent feedback from ‘the dragons’. Well done to all our Year 5s!
