This half term, in year 5MW, we have been enjoying reading The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan and planning a story innovation. We worked with our talk partners using story mats to create a new character and setting. We are looking forward to writing our own stories all about the characters, which we have designed, and how they will help to find the lost thing’s home!

Year 5 writing: Dreamgiver
This morning, Year 5KW began looking at a new stimulus for their literacy writing. They enjoyed watching the video ‘Dreamgiver’ and then used thesauruses to improve vocabulary that they had generated. They placed their new vocabulary in dream bubbles around an image of the Dreamgiver. 5KW enjoyed the task; hopefully this will help them to use exciting vocabulary in their writing next week.

Sports Relief 2018
Nursery Stay and Play for Sport Relief
The children in nursery have taken part in a variety of sports events in the build up to Sport Relief. This morning, lots of parents joined us in nursery for our ‘Sport Relief’ Stay and Play session where the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of different sports, games and activities, including: wet sponge throwing, hook a duck, hula hooping, bat and ball games, dancing, tug of war and many more! Thank you to all of the parents who joined us in class this morning! 🙂
Sport Relief in Nursery and Reception
This week, as part of our Sport Relief events, the children in Nursery and Reception took part in some coaching sessions, led by a football coach from the Manchester United Foundation. The sessions consisted of a variety of games and activities, including ‘the bean game’, ‘pirate ships’ and ‘racing cars’. The children then had the opportunity to practise their football skills. Here are some photos from the day. 🙂

Learning in Nursery
This week in Nursery, as part of our topic ‘People who help us’, we have been learning about what the emergency services do.
We have enjoyed pretending to be fire fighters, police officers and paramedics, responding to ‘incidents’ in the outdoor area. We have had some holes in the road, burst pipes, fires and accidents (all pretend and part of our learning of course).
Additionally, we have enjoyed our baby clinic and hospital role play inside and have used what we know to make patients better!
