BBC Blue Peter Trip for Year 3

Last week, half of Year 3 visited Salford Media City – to take part in a recording of BBC’s Blue Peter. The episode they recorded will be broadcast on CBBC and BBC iPlayer at 5pm this Friday (1st April). They were also lucky enough to each receive a special Blue Peter Badge for taking part!

The other half of Year 3 will also have this exciting opportunity during the Summer term. Here are some photographs from our visit:

Year 2 Trips to Staircase House

This half term, our Year 2 children have been learning about The Great Fire Of London. In order for them to ‘experience’ the events of September 1666, we took them to Staircase House in Stockport.

Here, all our children were able to see the type of house and belongings of the people who lived at that time. They were then able to dress up and take part in re-telling the story, alongside Samuel Pepys!

Book Hamper for Year 3&4

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we were extremely pleased to receive a Book Hamper from Morrisons Supermarket, Swinton, which will be used to extend our Year 3&4 class libraries.

We have recently enjoyed contributing towards community projects led by Christina Edwards, Community Champion at Morrisons, Swinton. We chose Year 3&4 children to receive these books, as they had worked very hard at Christmas to make over a hundred Christmas Cards to distribute to elderly residents in our local community.

World Book Day 2022

This week, we welcomed Petr Horácek to Grosvenor Road. Petr is a highly respected author-illustrator of children’s books. He spent a day with our children, sharing his books and leading workshops, culminating in the production of a spectacular mural which will now be displayed in school.

On Friday, we also encouraged children to dress up and bring their favourite books into school, as we focussed on reading activities.
