EASTER ACTIVITIES MARCH 2025

We have had a very busy last week of term in school, with our Easter Hat Competition and Easter Family Bingo.

Easter Hat Competition

Well done to everyone that entered the competition; your creativity was truly amazing and Mrs Dunkley had a very difficult job trying to choose a winner from each class. Here are the Class Winners. The overall prize went to Archie in Year 1.

Easter Family Bingo

This week, we held two Family Bingo Evenings. Tickets for the event sold out in two days and many children, parents and grandparents had lots of fun playing bingo together and enjoying refreshments provided by our PTA.

Thank you to our school community for supporting the evenings and thank you to all our staff and PTA members for their help at these events.

WORLD BOOK DAY 2025

On Friday, we celebrated Word Book Day by dressing up and taking part in various book-themed activities throughout the day.

Our themes this year were: Bedtime Stories in Nursery and Reception; Julia Donaldson Books in Year 1 and Year 2; Word Aware in Year 3 and Year 4; Monsterology in Year 5 and Macbeth in Year 6.

This year, all our children also enjoyed taking part in storytelling workshops led by Claire Davies:

PANCAKE FLIPPING 2025!

We have all had great fun flipping pancakes and raising funds for our school! All our children were given the opportunity to see how many pancakes they could flip in two minutes (wooden pancakes). In some cases, this was over 100! Well done to all our children for having a go and for collecting sponsors.

If you have already completed your sponsor form, thank you! Please send sponsor monies into school as soon as possible / by Friday 14th March.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to all the adults in our school community who came into school to help during the two days – we couldn’t do this without you!

Young Voices 2025

We really enjoyed performing at the Young Voices Concert on Thursday 6th February. The atmosphere in the Co-op Live Arena during the afternoon and evening was amazing, as our choir sang alongside 8000 other children!

During the rehearsal, we also performed a medley of Bob Marley’s songs – this formed part of a world-wide performance to mark Bob Marley’s 80th Birthday.

Well done to all our children – we are so proud of you!

As well as celebrating Bob Marley’s birthday, we also helped Mrs Newall to celebrate hers – we are very lucky that she chose to spend her special day with us at the arena!

We managed to surprise Mrs Newall with a tiny birthday cake!

CHRISTMAS BAUBLE COMPETITION

Thank you to our PTA who organised a Christmas Bauble Competition for all children in school. There were many entries in every class with all our children showing lots of creativity!

Mrs Dunkley (Chair of our Local Governing Board) and Mr Pridden were given the extremely difficult task of choosing one winner in each class, then an overall winner!

Here are our class winners; their 22 baubles are now on our Christmas tree in the main hall and they all received a prize.

CONGRATULATIONS to our overall winner – Macy T in Year 1!

NEW BOOKS FOR OUR LIBRARY!

On Friday 17th May, some of our children were given a special job to do – help unpack our new library books with Mrs Johns and Mrs Newall.  Our school successfully applied to the National Literacy Trust to be part of their ‘Libraries for Primaries’ programme.

As part of this programme, we received 500 new books.  The children loved looking through the new books and they all  worked really hard unpacking and sorting the books ready to be put on the shelves.  We hope our new books will be well-loved by all the children and encourage them to become life-long readers.

Please see our Grosvenor Road Reading Journey on the School Website, if you would like more information on the Reading Curriculum at Grosvenor Road.
