World Book Day Writing Competition

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we are running a writing competition.  The children have to use one of the pictures as a stimulus for their short story.

It would be great to get the whole family involved, so the children will be bringing home a planning sheet so they can get ideas ready for writing their story in class next week.

Key Stage 2

Year One Lowry Workshop

On Tuesday 12th February Michelle Leigh an artist who works closely with the Lowry art gallery visited year one and spent the day leading art workshops. The children listened carefully as Michelle told them all about Lowry and his famous pieces of artwork. The children improved their pencil drawing techniques through making a looking log each and explored simple perspective. Finally the children created a pen and wash art piece incorporating elements of Lowry’s paintings which are going to be entered into a competition at the art gallery. This was a fabulous way to end the history topic on L.S.Lowry and develop the children’s love of art.

4ED Romans Assembly

This Thursday, it was our turn to show off everything that we have learnt about the Romans! After lots of practising and hard work learning our lines, we were ready to perform. Although some of us felt nervous, we spoke confidently about our learning and had lots of fun! Thank you to everyone for coming to watch us!

Internet Safety Week

Across school we have been learning about staying safe on the internet. From Nursery up to Year 6 we have been looking at permission and consent. What to do when we see a pop up message, asking for adults to help us when we are unsure and seeking permission to take pics or add people to groups.

It has been an amazing week of using iPads, chrome books, laptops and other interactive resources.

Please visit the school website to see more information and ways to stay safe on the internet in school and at home. https://www.grosvenorroadprimary.org/information/online-safety/

Year 5 learning

This week year 5 have been learning about the different parts of a plant, the process of pollination and the function of each part of a flowering plant.
The children had the opportunity to get hands on and dissect a lily, they spent time removing each part and examining it carefully before labelling a diagram.
