Year 6 Maths Challenge Winners

Well done to this group of Year 6 children, who were awarded First Place in a Maths Reasoning Team Challenge Competition.

This year, the children have been attending a half-termly Maths Reasoning Club, alongside Year 6 children from other Salford primary schools, developing their ‘greater depth’ maths skills. This culminated in the Team Challenge Competition, where the group had to work together to solve ten maths ‘reasoning problems’ in one hour.

Our Grosvenor Road group managed to accurately solve the most problems within the hour! Here they are with their certificate –

Year 2’s Trip to Lytham St Annes

This week, our Year 2 classes visited Lytham St Annes to find out more about the geographical features of our coast. They have also been learning about how the seaside has changed since Victorian times.

We were very lucky to have a lovely sunny day and all our children also enjoyed playing on the beach, building sandcastles and eating icecream!

Jubilee Books

All our children have received a copy of a specially comissioned Jubilee Book from the Department of Education – ‘Queen Elizabeth: A Platinum Jubilee Celebration’ tells the story of ‘a young princess who grew up to become our longest reigning monarch, and celebrates the achievements, people and places that have become part of her remarkable legacy’.

Jubilee Artists at Grosvenor Road

On Monday, we welcomed Mr Chris Robinson into our KS2 Assembly to make a very special presentation.
Mr Robinson is from Hills Estate Agency, who recently ran a competition for children in Salford primary schools. They were asked to design a ‘Jubilee For Sale Board’ for Hills to display throughout Salford, as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

We are very pleased to announce that, from over 200 entries, two of our Year 6 pupils – Daisy and Leah – were awarded the Winning Prize and a Runner Up Prize respectively for their excellent designs. Daisy received a board with her winning design, a certificate and £50 voucher; Leah received a certificate and £25 voucher.

In our assembly, Mr Robinson presented school with a £500 cheque, which will be used to purchase further Art & Design Curriculum resources for all children.

Thank you very much to Mr Robinson and Hills; Congratulations to our talented artists!
