Equipment was purchased for ALL playgrounds in school and included: basketball hoops; football nets; a rebounder net; playground games such as Connect 4, Chess, Twister and Jenga; a nature hunt set; badminton sets, bats and balls, balance boards, skipping ropes, frisbees, ribbon wands, all types of balls, stilts, hula hoops, beanbag boccia sets, scoops, skittles and croquet.

Thank you once again to all our families for supporting our sponsored event. Here are some photographs of the children enjoying our new equipment

Nursery Stay and Play for Sport Relief

The children in nursery have taken part in a variety of sports events in the build up to Sport Relief. This morning, lots of parents joined us in nursery for our ‘Sport Relief’ Stay and Play session where the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of different sports, games and activities, including: wet sponge throwing, hook a duck, hula hooping, bat and ball games, dancing, tug of war and many more! Thank you to all of the parents who joined us in class this morning! 🙂

Sport Relief in Nursery and Reception

This week, as part of our Sport Relief events, the children in Nursery and Reception took part in some coaching sessions, led by a football coach from the Manchester United Foundation. The sessions consisted of a variety of games and activities, including ‘the bean game’, ‘pirate ships’ and ‘racing cars’. The children then had the opportunity to practise their football skills.  Here are some photos from the day. 🙂

Year 3 and 4 Basketball Competition

Last night, a team of 8 children from Year 3 and 4 played in a Basketball Competition at The Deans Primary School. There were 8 teams at the competition and everybody played fantastically. The team got off to a positive start, winning their first games. After such an amazing performance, we were then placed into the semi-final of the competition. With a marvellous win of 6-1, we were guaranteed a place in the final. The final was very tense, with both teams drawing 2-2 at the final whistle. It was the next team to score to win the tournament. Not long after the final whistle, Todor had the ball and shot for goal, he scored an outstanding winning goal. Grosvenor Road won the tournament! The team played amazingly, very professional and excellent teamwork. Miss Sutton and Miss Norris were very proud and were certain the children in the competition were a great representation for Grosvenor Road. As well as this amazing victory, Todor won man of the tournament, winning himself a trophy. The school have won a trophy (which will be displayed in the trophy cabinet) and each child got a medal and certificate. Well done team Grosvenor, excellent work!

Playtimes in Key Stage 1

Each day the children have a range of activities to take part in during paly times. Each playground has a climbing frame or trim trail, ball games, a quiet zone and an adult led activity – the school’s sports coaches rotate through Years 1 to 6 each day to provide sport activities.  This week Year 1 and 2 have been learning how to do archery with their sports coach led sessions.
